The Melbourne sports physiotherapists get excited about the acrobatic arts, acrobatic apparatus and stunt people. Our physiotherapists have extensive international experience working with professional circus artists including artists from Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Eloize.
What is your discipline?
Tissu, trapeze (swing, static, flying), aerial hoop, cloud swing, Chinese pole, juggling (fire, knives – you name it!), teeterboard, contortion, stilt walking, tumbling, hand balancing (the list goes on….)
We understand the different mechanics and loading these disciplines put on your body as they are different to other elite sports and performing arts. Our sports physiotherapists will assess, treat and rehabilitate you holistically and specifically for your discipline. We also understand the term “the show must go on”.
There are many reasons why you may need to see a sports physiotherapist and a few circus-specific issues include:
- Alignment issues
- Labral tears (shoulder, hip)
You don’t have to be a circus performer to see us either. Many people find circus training a fun way to keep fit and we are experts at managing the demands of:
- Fly gym (gym work outs on tissu/silks)
- Pole dancing
- Circus school training
- Stuntman training
If you aren’t quite ready for these classes but dream of exercising in such a fun way, we can design an individualised program to ensure that you can participate safely and most importantly, have a good time too!
The sports physios at Performance Medicine are looking forward to helping you achieve your ultimate performance!
